“‘You definitely deserve to know that,’ Elwin agreed, narrowing his eyes at Mr. Most people see this and think it proves Elwin would’ve told Sophie if he was her father, but the quote continues. In Legacy (page 510), Elwin tells Sophie that she “definitely deserve to know” the identity of her biological parents. Now comes the real question: why wouldn’t Elwin tell her? We already know that Elwin is the nicest guy who wouldn’t ever wish harm on anyone else (I don’t have to use quotes to prove that but it’s not needed), so it is likely that Elwin would like Sophie to know but either doesn’t wish harm on Oralie or respects Forkle when he says Sophie cannot know. In fact, he makes it VERY clear that he cannot share who her mother is, but rarely mentions her father (“Do not bother asking me who your mother is-that is one piece of information I cannot share.” -Forkle in Everblaze page 459), so it is not unlikely that it won’t be as earth-shattering to discover who her father is as it was to find out who her mother was
Three: Forkle has said that outing her parents would create huge scandal/chaos, but we can safely assume that much of that is associated with her mother. As far as we know, Elwin is not associated with the Black Swan (yes, he occasionally helps with Sophie’s health, but if he was closely associated with them, why would they constantly have Physic/Livvy do all the doctor-y stuff?). Two: we know that her parents are not strongly affiliated with the Black Swan outside of Sophie’s creation. What has Shannon told us about Sophie’s parents? One: Forkle made sure they weren’t super connected to each other, and none of the eight books have shown any connection between Oralie and Elwin.
First, what kind of a physician spends their free time writing up random ways that one specific person might get hurt? Second, it’s a little suspicious that he gave this kit to Della considering no one knew about them joining the Black Swan, so he must have been working out of his way even before they joined the Black Swan to keep Sophie safe, as well as investigating her personal life enough to give this kit to Della. In Neverseen, he gives Della a “Sophie Survival Kit” and a list called “Crazy Messes That Sophie Will Find A Way To Get Herself Into” (page 219 of Neverseen). Like what kind of a doctor wakes up in the middle of the night to go help some student he has no connection to? He is CONSISTENTLY going out of his way to keep her safe. Beware, this contains MAJOR Legacy spoilers.
